Because He Looked Different A Little Kitten Was About To Be Put Down

Cricket was born to a breeder who intended to sell all of his siblings, but after seeing his missing eye, cleft lip, and crooked jaw, the breeder decided she couldn’t sell him. She didn’t want anyone to find out she had produced a “imperfect” cat, so she decided to put him to death.

When the breeder told someone about her plans, she felt she had to do everything she could to preserve Cricket, so she promptly sought out someone who could assist her.

When Megan Boehm heard what the breeder was planning to do, she immediately said she would take Cricket in. She knew virtually nothing about him at the time, but she knew she couldn’t let him die. The breeder agreed to let her take the little kitten, and suddenly, Boehm became Cricket’s new mom.

Boehm told The Dodo, “It wasn’t even a decision.” “I hadn’t even seen a picture of him, but I knew I had to help him as soon as I heard his tale.” I couldn’t bear the thought of killing a tiny kitten with minor problems simply because he was born differently. And it was love at first sight when I met him.”

Cricket was a complete mess when Boehm first brought him home. He was unwell and badly underweight, indicating that he had been neglected by his breeder. Cricket’s first day home, Boehm, a college student, stayed home from class to care for him and make sure he was doing well. Cricket grew stronger and began to mend after a few days of love and care, and after being examined by a veterinarian, it looked that the special little kitten would be alright.

“When Cricket came, he appeared completely at home,” Boehm added. “All he wanted to do was cuddle all day!” He was on his path to complete recovery after gaining some weight and receiving unconditional affection from me.”

From the very beginning, Boehm knew that Cricket was a little different and would likely have some challenges, but it never bothered her. To her, Cricket is just a cat, and as a result, Cricket has never really noticed that he’s any different, either. He can only eat wet food because of his crooked jaw and cleft lip, but otherwise, he’s just like any other cat.

While Cricket does not resemble a regular cat in appearance…

… he’s also completely adorable, and his mom wouldn’t have him any other way.

“Cricket has given me a sense of purpose,” remarked Boehm. “Every day, I look forward to seeing him.” I can’t wait to cuddle him when I get home from work or class. Cricket always makes me feel better whether I’m anxious, depressed, or furious. I watch Cricket and realize all he has endured, and I know I can conquer life’s obstacles.”
