The news is finally out about which undergraduate institution former First Son Barron Trump will be attending in the fall.
The college freshman was spotted by the New York Post on the campus of New York University on Wednesday as he kicks off the first year living away from his mother and father. The 6’9″ Barron lumbered through the quad with a phalanx of security guards keeping watch over him and a Swiss Gear backpack slung over his shoulder. Barron was fashionably dressed in a white polo shirt, black slacks, and Adidas sneakers. Sources told the Post that he would first be meeting with a school dean before heading off to class.
Observers of the Trump family have struggled until now to uncover which university was selected by the only son of former President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump. The former president made known that his wife was intimately involved in helping Barron search for his next four-year home away from home which also included considerations of colleges in Florida, the family’s new location since leaving New York for good earlier this year. The selection of NYU will now put Barron back in the center of the city that made his father a wealthy man and a household name long before he became the nation’s 45th president. President Trump previously told the Post that his son selected a university in New York for the fall though declined to name which one.
After graduating from a Florida preparatory high school in May, Barron was accepted into multiple colleges, his father added. “He’s always been a very good student, he’s smart.” President Trump also counts on his youngest son for counsel about political matters and has welcomed Barron into the fold as he gears up for his third general election. Barron was set to be a national Republican delegate in July before abruptly backing out, according to media reports, but has nonetheless expressed an interest in taking the opportunity of his father’s campaign to learn the ropes about politics.
Melania Trump has been the glue holding both men together in the wake of an assassination attempt against her husband in July. Trump previously disclosed that his wife “couldn’t talk about” the shooting or find the words to convey her fears that were nearly realized that day. As the campaign ratcheted up to its current feverish pace, Melania has insisted that both Barron and her husband sit down for breakfast most mornings and refrain from watching too much cable news. Before the selection of Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), Melania had proposed that Trump select Tucker Carlson as his running mate, a sign that she is an ever-present force inside his campaign.
